BIOGRAPHY![]() Shoot The Hostage came together merely by coincidence. Originally, there was the Milwaukee metalcore band, Scapegoat (anno 1998-2000). It featured [guitarists/co-founders] Louie Pahl & Parker Krieg, [bassist] Chris Wenzel, [singer] Mark Fisher, and [drummer] Ryan Schofield. When Ryan left the band for his new career, they needed a replacement drummer. Barry Jaeger of the band, Lee Harvey Oswald, filled that void not long after. Scapegoat and LHO had ironically played a show together about a month proceeding the lineup change. Eventually, the band abandoned its old material, changed its name, and became a new musical entity (in September 2000). Jason Ploetz, formerly of Will Build To Suit, was soon added as a second vocalist in the band. The band played some shows and went into the studio to record their 4-song demo "The Pain In My Heart; The Blood On My Hands." They continued to play more shows and do a little touring. In September 2001, bassist Chris Wenzel left the band to pursue other musical aspirations. He was replaced by Noah Nickel, formerly of His Autumn Falls. In October 2001, original vocalist, Mark Fisher left the band to concentrate on school responsibilities. He was replaced by Shawn Page, formerly of Invoke The Flood. In November 2001, second vocalist, Jason Ploetz was let go of (due to scheduling conflicts). Shawn will be handling all vocal duties from now on. UPDATE![]() Due to the lineup change and other reasons, the band has changed its name to Wings Of Scarlet. See here for more details. |
