Shoot The Hostage NEWS:

January 15, 2002:
This message was sent to the band mailing list recently.

Shoot the Hostage 2001 year in review:

This past year has been a blur. We played out lots and lots and we finally got up to Minneapolis and out to Detroit. We made tons of friends and can’t be more thankful. In case you haven’t been keeping up with us, both of our former singers are gone and the mic man is now Shawn Page (ex-Invoke the Flood). We cannot forget to mention the departure of Chris Wenzel, our longtime bassist and good friend who still rocks it webmaster style.

2001 did not end on a good note however. Louie’s van was stolen from the parking lot of Southshore movie theatre and inside were all of our cds and ALL of our money. So we begin the new year broke with a total of like 9 cds.

Our name has taken some fire as well. Mostly from inside the band and our close friends. Basically "shooting hostages" is not the image we want people to think of when they hear (or see) our music. This, coupled with line-up changes may soon be leading to a name change.

Don’t panic.

It is still us, still the same music, just a bit more positive. We still write music for ourselves and the people we care about and the mosh is still ill.

This spring, expect to see a new cd, tshirts, hoodies, stickers, posters, and tea cosies bearing a new name.

Thankyou everyone for sticking by us through the confusion.

The band will be changing their name to Wings Of Scarlet. A website is currently being made for the new entity and hopefully should be done before the band's first show under the new name. This first show will be on January 26th in Minnesota with Forever Is Forgotten also representing, Milwaukee style. Check the Shows section for more details.

There weren't any personal/musical conflicts within the band...he's just focusing on his top priorities right now. We wish our friend the best of luck. Shawn Page, formerly of Invoke The Flood, is Mark's replacement. His bio will be up shortly.

The website was down for several days this week, because of communication problems with our webhost. We have just switched webhosting services. As of now, we are on a bigger/reliable server, so there shouldn't be any more site downtime.

September 13, 2001:
The "Hugs N Chugs" Fest on Sunday was a really great event. We'd like to thank everyone involved (whether organizing/promoting/playing/attending the show). As you may have noticed, it was announced during Shoot The Hostage's set that it was going to be Chris Wenzel's last show with the band. For anyone that's wondering what's going on, he's leaving the band due to other musical aspirations. There are no internal conflicts/personal differences within the group that has caused this. Chris wishes the band the best of luck and will continue to support the group in the future. A replacement hasn't been officially announced yet, so stay tuned.
